Objective
The objective of the training is to increase performance through our STEM principles:
Our program is essential to fulfilling the junior athlete’s potential, athletic development, and injury prevention.
Why
Regardless of the sport you play, STEM skills transcend all athletics. Our training programs are designed to assist junior athletes in maximizing their abilities and improving their overall athletic performance. Current research shows that the ages of 6-14 are critical for neuromuscular development. During this time period both the mind and body are primed for learning. Teach the ‘right’ skills at the ‘right’ time and a young athlete will achieve their true physical potential.
How
STEM skill training increases performance by focusing on fundamental and sequential teaching of the STEM principles. The training fosters athletic development by learning proper technique and competency versus only focusing on results. It also counteracts injury and burnout created by specialization. Junior athletes (our kids) are pushing themselves to perform, specialize, and adapt to the increasing competitiveness in youth sports. Over refining and specializing without the correct foundation STEM skill development creates leads to sub-optimal performance, burnout, and injury.
The program is facilitated through the most current science around proper stretching, intentional movement in multiple planes (increase range/improve mind-muscle connection), and resistance training equipment/medicine ball and other games to help safely develop soft tissue, joint, bone, and muscle strength.
What
Through the 6 weeks of training, the athletes will execute a variety of exercises and games that challenge them to fulfill their current potential and create new pathways of development.
Systematically execute (sequencing is a process these athletes can use throughout their lives):
-
proper stretching and warm-up
-
high intensity training regimen that insures that the skill window development occurs
-
games that put the session focus of work to promote subconscious execution of the given skill
-
proper cool down to promote recovery
Critical focus on:
-
significantly under developed posterior chain in young athletes
-
static and dynamic stretching that enhances mobility and range of motion
-
body mechanics that lead to proper running technique, foot energy
-
torso, shoulder, back/spine development
-
coordinating movements and dynamic sequencing for sport based application, force delivery, and counteracting imbalances created by singular sport focus
-
Exercises: Work opposing muscle groups in coordination through jump, skip, band, and movement in space
Who
The professionals delivering STEM skill training to junior athletes are trained academically, on an applied basis, certified, and are passionate about the essentiality of the program to build the critical foundation and counteract the issues of specialization. Besides their credentials, experience, and inherent passion, our trainers uniquely are parents, coaches, and leaders in our community who want our junior athletes to be the best athlete and person possible.
